Associate Professor

Dr. Sandhya Ram joined V.M. Salgaocar College of Law in the year 2001 as a faculty in law. She is presently the Director of the Legal Aid Society, and was instrumental in starting the Inter Legal Aid Cell Contest (INTER LAC), an important annual event for Legal Aid Cell members of the College. She is a Member of Internal Quality Assurance Cell and a Member of Committee on Prevention of Sexual Harassment of Women. She is also the Associate Director of Consumer Clinic, and faculty coordinator of the Constitutional Law Club of the College. She is recognized for professionally handling the subject “ADR Skills and Ethics”, by the IBA-CLE Chair, National Law School of India University, Bangalore.

She is identified for her proficient discourse of lectures in the subject areas of Administrative Law, Constitutional Law, Company Law and Jurisprudence among other subjects for the LL.B program. She has developed various innovative learner centered teaching methods especially in Administrative Law. She has codified the mode of citations to be adopted by the students in their Moot Court Memorial, LL.M thesis and other research publication. She had served as the Chairperson of Moot Court Society and Program Officer of National Service Scheme of the College, a number of times. She had been the Chief Co-ordinator of the National level Law Students Competitions hosted by the College.
She graduated from Kerala Law Academy in 1998 after completing her Five Years LL.B Program and thereafter obtained her Masters in Constitutional Law and Administrative Law from the prestigious Department of Law, Kerala University with a record of 82% marks and first rank in 2001. She worked as a visiting faculty for the LL.M Program in the Department of Law, Kerala University from January 2001 to June 2001.

She has been delivering special guest lecturers annually at the Department of Law, Kerala University on various topics, the more recent among them being “Role of Judiciary in a Democracy”, “Concept Building in Law : Best Practices” and “From Natural Justice to Fairness – Significance of Classification of Administrative Action”. She writes columns in electronic legal portal, Livelaw.in and her most recent column on “Ban on Cow Slaughter : Camouflage of Article 48” had fetched a wide readership and discussion.

She has been awarded Ph.D. on the topic “Protection of the Rights of Older Persons – A Socio Legal Study in the States of Goa and Kerala”.
